Sauna


The method of sauna



The classical form of it is without clothes that provides sweating of whole skin. Naturally in Finland this type of sauna is practised in family circle because all houses have a sauna. Also there is a bunch of foliage of birch that is used to flap themselves after starting to sweat. They put a sponge or a small mat under themselves and they relax in sitting or liing for 9-10 minutes. The starter are liing on the lower stairs because it is less hot. It is not worth being more than ten minutes at one occassion and the starter is adviced to increase time continually. After the first period they leave the saune for a cold shower, they dry themselves and relax a bit before they start it again. This is repeated three times usually and at the end they relax half an hour.

The sauna requires great attention because of the high temperature. It is banned for people who suffer from heart or kidneys problems, from epilepsy or arthritic. It is not proposed for children under six and the elder children also sit on lower stairs. Finally people whose thermic system does not operate well they also avoid it.

It is very interesting phenomenon that there are people who become tired and there are also who will refresh from the sauna. So it is needed to pay attention for personal reactions and influances of sauna to us. We have to experience when, which period of day is the best to us.

Because of the faster metabolism our body requires more oxygen, we breath faster in the sauna. This positive side become negative if we go to the sauna after eating a lor or drinking alcohol. So we have to pay attention beside the period of day that we use the sauna between two meals.

Children usually do not like the cold shower, so it is proposed to avoid this part of sauna. Adults who are more sensitive can take cool shower too and they use cold water continually.

It is important that at the end of the sauna we drink lot of mineral water without gas. We can sit in the sauna in or without bath suit, but because of the bad experince we avoid the unpleasent situation, and we do not tree our children.
